I've talked about the commercial before, but if you haven't seen it, or you want to watch it obsessively, like I've been doing, here it is. (WMP required)
I'm working on finding out who the guy is that plays the Rubberband Man, and I hope to interview him soon. I'll keep you posted.

Best commercial in my lifetime! Honestly! I could watch it over and over again. I would watch the full length movie. I would read the book.
The guy is the most likeable character I have ever seen. The music, the lyrics, the moves....How much more of this do they think we can stand!

How can one guy exude so much delight in a t.v. spot for crying out loud! I actually recorded the first commercial to DVD and will save the new one as well. They're priceless.
If you haven't been into the Office Max store you need to go just to see the posters. . . especially Eddie & Einstein side by side. It's a riot!

Yes, the Rubberband Man is the most lovable character I have seen in any commercial. I never tire of watching the ads. The new back-to-school one is a stitch. What an appealing guy!

AMAZING!!!!!!! I am very happy to find ppl who are obsessed with the Rubberband Man as much as I am. It's the greatest idea for a commercial so far. Eddie Steeple is hilarious and has the hippest hair. The song is fantastic (I'm possessed by it, never stop listening to it). I'll be very surprised the day I see a better commercial with an even better song. I hope I can meet the Rubberband Man someday (or at least one of The Spinners). Keep on enjoying it!

The new rubberband man commercial is TERRIBLE! They've replaced Eddie Steeples with a lame clay-mation character--bring him back!!

I've seen the commercial several times and am beginning to appreciate it. Still wished they had used the real thing, though. The "Making of Santa's Helper" video is now available at the Office Max website and includes footage of the real RBM modeling his moves for the animators.

The next commercial, titled "Lost" comes out tomorrow night on ABC at 8 p.m. during the tv show "Lost." Check out the website: http://rubberbandman.officemax.com for the full commercial. It's hilarious!
The next commercial titled "Found" comes out in about two weeks. This commercial will be on the above website later this week.
Eddie Steeples was in Thailand when the tsunami hit, but thank god he is ok and returning to the U.S. next week.

You can download all of the commercials and "making of" movies by playing them and then retrieving the shockwave files from your cache folder. The files are easy to find--they all end in .swf--and they can be played through your browser or with a shockwave flash player.

Hand me down my walkin’ cane
Hand me down my hat
Hurry now and don’t be late
'Cause we ain’t got time to chat
You and me we’re goin’ out
To catch the latest sounds
Guaranteed to blow your mind
So high you won’t come down
Hey, y’all prepare yourself
For the Rubberband man
You never heard a sound
Like the rubberband man
You’re bound to lose control
When the Rubberband starts to jam
Oh, Lord, this dude is outta sight
Everything he does
seems to come out right
Once I went to hear them play
At a club outside of town
I was so surprised, I was hypnotized
By the sound this cat’s puttin’ down
When I saw this short fat guy
Stretch a band between his toes
Hey, I laughed so hard ‘cause the man got down
When he finally reached his goal
Hey, y’all prepare yourself
For the Rubberband man
You never heard a sound
Like the rubberband man
You’re bound to lose control
When the Rubberband starts to jam
Got that rubberband
Up on his toes
And then he wriggled it up
All around his nose
(Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo)
Guaranteed to blow your mind
(Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo)
Playin’ all that music, yet keepin’ time
(Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo)
Where in the world did he learn that, oh, Lord
(Doo doo doo doo doo)
Lord, help him get away
Hey, y’all prepare yourself
For the Rubberband man
You never heard a sound
Like the rubberband man
You’re bound to lose control
When the Rubberband starts to jam
Doo doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo doo
Rubberband man, Rubberband man
How much of this stuff do he think we can stand
So much rhythm, grace and debonair from one man, Lord
And then he had nerve to wiggle his left toe
To his knee, got the feelin’ in his head, y’all
Ah, come on, baby
Hey, y’all prepare yourself
For the Rubberband man
You never heard a sound
Like the rubberband man
You’re bound to lose control
When the Rubberband starts to jam
Rubberband man starts to jam
Movin’ up and down across the land
Got people all in his ways
Everything about him seems out of place
Just a movin’, just a movin’, just a move-move-movin’
Just a Rubberband, Rubberband man
Just a movin’, just a movin’, just a move-move-movin’
Just a Rubberband, Rubberband man
Get down
Oh, get down lover
Uh-huh

I too am obessed with this song. It really upsets me to view the postings here dating back to 2004, cuz today is the first day I ever heard the commercial. I guess Alaska is a little behind. Anyways, I just downloaded the song from iTunes.com. Hopefully I wont overplay it.

Yes I was one of the principal cast members for that Rubberband Man "Lost and Found" scene's (2 shots A. coming out of the elevator/ B.typing @ my computer and Eddie puts pencil in my coffee cup cuz he's depressed about losing his rubberband ball)...Eddie was cool to work with...I've been trying to call the ad agency for the past year to get a copy of it to have for my reel...of course no call back...then I finally get dsl, am able to see it FULL SPEED, got someone to put it on disc for me and the link I had EXPIRED...a few days ago to be exact..Think you could email me the T.V. spot for Office Max RubberBand man called "LOST & FOUND"? You'd be a HUGE Blesseing to me...Thanks! (310) 669-4462 BE BLESSED CHARMAINE!
