Just lots more quick mentions of Badnarik's blogspheric presence... Chapel Furnace Michael Badnarik is who I am thinking of backing in 04. I don't think he'll win, but that's really beside the point, since we don't really control who wins anyway, as... Read More

I just took a quiz at http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html and discovered that like Maurice, I am also a libertarian. I always vote Republican because I do not believe that my tax dollars should go to people who contribute nothing to society. I find liberals to be quite irritating. However, I do not believe that government should have a say in personal matters (i.e. same sex marriages, abortion, etc.). I have always known that I fall between the two but identify better with Republicans because they reward hard work instead of punishing them for their successes in order to give to the "less fortunate." So, I chose what I believe is the lesser of the two evils.
I am one of those irritating people who always reminds my friends and family to vote. And I am horrified when I discover that people do not. Someone I know only votes in presidential elections. The problem with that is that the president does not decide every detail in government. It is our responsibility to vote for the best candidates for the House of Representatives and Congress. They are supposed to be our voices and from there the president decides what bills that were written by our representatives should be passed or vetoed.
Unfortunately, I feel if I vote outside of our two political parties that my vote is a wasted vote. Yet, I know that change cannot occur without all of our votes.
Hello Laura,
I have been a supporter of Michael Badnarik's even before he declared his candidacy.
Michael has the best answer I have ever heard for the wasted vote dilemma:
"If you were in prison and faced a 50% chance of death by lethal injection, a 45% chance of the electric chair, and had a 5% chance of escape, would you vote for lethal injection because it was the most likely outcome, or would you try for escape?" said Badnarik. "Voting Libertarian is our only chance for political survival. Choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil."
