Tue Sept. 9, 2005 08:00 AM ET

New Haven, Connecticut (Reuters) - Officials at the Grove Street Cemetary made a startling announcment today that the grave of Noah Webster is empty.

Noah Webster, Father of American English This bizarre development follows the case on the 7th of his grave catching fire. Police are still investigating the matter of the fire.

Assistant Chief of Police Bryan Norwood has expressed shock and bafflement at the crimes. "At this point, we do not know if the grave was emptied first and then set on fire, or was emptied after it caught fire, but we're going to find the culprits right away."

This is a really bizarre story, to say the least.
