So I'm thinking about American Idol and I was surprised that some people did as well as they did. I didn't think that Ace was going to do well, and Elliot did better than I thought. Taylor was not good at all, which pains me to say, because I love the man. His last three performances have been lacking, and I felt that he was phoning this one in. Mandisa tried to do a hybrid of gospel and country that didn't work for me, which is a shame because she is also one of my favorites.
VoteForTheWorst is asking everyone to vote for Kellie Pickler, which is a shock to me. I don't think she's the worst by far. I'm really torn now on who's the worst on the show...but I'll throw out my guesses for the bottom three:
1. Taylor
2. Mandisa
3. Elliot
with Elliot going home.
The wife thinks it will be:
1. Katherine
2. Elliot
3. Ace
with Elliot going home.
And both the wife and I are a little disturbed by how much our own comments at home are syncing up with Simon. It feels dirty.

I've never really watched the show, but from the snippets I've gathered watching at my parents' house (big fans) it seems as though Simon is the only one who gives them an honest assessment of their performance. Albeit in an overly frank and insensitive way, but that's where the entertainment value comes in I guess.
That's what's wrong with parenting today. Too many Paula Abduls (LETS NOT KEEP SCORE, YIPEE!) and too few Simons.
My bottom three for last night, taking *only* last night's performance into account:
Taylor
Mandisa
Kelly
I don't think it's fair to "carry" a contestant with the idea that they did well in past weeks and may've just had an off show.
For me, the point of American Idol is to withstand the competition every week and to outperform your peers.
Generally speaking, I really like Taylor; my own personal preference is that I don't want to see him leave the competition.
That said, and in keeping with the spirit of voting each person's current performance, I think he dropped the ball last night. Judging *solely* on last night's performance, he's earned the "bottom of the bottom" slot from me.
Having said that, I think his pervious performances overall have shown him to be a fun, versatile performer, and I'll be sad to see him go if he's voted off tonight.
Taylor is going to be the next American Idol. I love how all of you are wrong on all of your predictions thus far. Get a life. Who are you to judge these great performers. Why don't YOU get off your fat lard and perform in front of millions.
