The US Team faced a very tough competitor in Italy and played without two players and tied the game. That takes some skill and balls, and I'm proud of them. Thank God they didn't repeat the embarassment of the game against the Czech Republic.
With Ghana beating the Czech Republic in a stunning game, we still stand a chance to make it to the next round.
GO USA!

The U.S. managed to stay in this game, no thanks to Uruguayan referree Jorge Larrionda, who has a checkered history of corruption and shady calls, particularly against the Americans (an amigo of Hugo Chavez, perhaps?). I know, I sound like a Penn State fan bitching about the officiating, but when you're playing 9 men against 10 (especially the Italians), that is a noticeable numerical disadvantage. Hats off to the U.S. team for a valiant and excellent performance, and Kasey Keller in particular in goal. I've had my doubts about the makeup of the team, having picked England and Argentina to meet up in the final in Berlin on July 7, but after that effort by the U.S. team last night, maybe, just maybe, they can make it out of this group they're in.
